Overview: emagine is seeking a skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong focus on Kubernetes and Docker to join our consultancy team, working with a leading investment bank. As a consultant, you will develop software for self-managing infrastructure services, enhance system performance, and collaborate with the bank's development teams to ensure the high availability, reliability, and performance of their containerized applications. This role demands a proactive approach in identifying improvement opportunities and implementing robust solutions leveraging Kubernetes and Docker technologies.
Responsibilities
Develop infrastructure services and self-service dashboards for the investment bank
Implement Infrastructure as Code to improve service delivery
Automate repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency
Optimize system performance, resource utilization, and reduce latency
Establish and monitor SLOs to meet availability and latency targets
Conduct detailed root cause analyses for incidents and outages
Collaborate with the bank's development teams to enhance service quality
Identify and address technical debt, develop standard operating procedures
Plan and execute cloud migration strategies
Ensure project deliverables meet timelines and budget
Manage audit requests and liaise with control and risk teams
Act as deputy team lead when required
Identify cost-saving and optimization opportunities
Build strong inter-departmental relationships within the bank
Secondary Responsibilities
Perform daily system health checks and resolve issues
Ensure successful system backups and address failures promptly
Validate and resolve monitoring alerts and batch job failures
Maintain infrastructure availability, reliability, and security
Provide technical support and consultancy to application teams
Participate in on-call and weekend work rotations
Skills Needed
Essential:
Expertise in Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling, and management of containerized applications
Proficiency in CI/CD tools: Git, Ansible, Terraform, TeamCity, SDA, Jenkins
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, Agile, SRE, and DevOps practices
Proficient in scripting languages: PowerShell, Python, Bash, C#
Advanced understanding of backup/recovery processes, clustering, high-availability, and disaster recovery
Strong performance tuning skills and system internals knowledge
Ability to implement CIS security recommendations
Highly Desirable:
Experience with RHEL, Oracle Linux, Solaris, Windows Server, SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, MongoDB, Snowflake
Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, Nutanix HCI, VMWare ESX, networking protocols, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle)
Understanding of data security regulations (GDPR, SOX)
Desirable:
Knowledge of Dell EMC PowerStore, Isilon, Rubrik, EMC Networker, CyberArk, Splunk, Qualys, Cisco Tetration, ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence
