Job Purpose:

The Stress Testing Business Analyst will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and execution of stress testing frameworks for assessing the resilience of the organization’s capital and liquidity positions under various adverse scenarios. This role will involve close collaboration with risk management, finance, and technology teams to ensure that stress testing models and processes are in line with regulatory requirements and internal risk management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Stress Testing Framework Development:

    • Collaborate with risk management and quantitative teams to develop, enhance, and validate stress testing methodologies and models.

    • Contribute to the design of stress testing scenarios, including macroeconomic shocks, financial crises, and institution-specific stress events.

    • Ensure that stress testing models align with regulatory standards (e.g., CCAR, EBA stress tests) and internal risk appetite.

  2. Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering:

    • Gather, document, and prioritize business requirements for stress testing processes, ensuring alignment with risk management objectives.

    • Work with key stakeholders (risk, finance, liquidity, IT, and model validation teams) to define and document stress testing requirements and ensure they are met.

    • Conduct impact assessments to evaluate how different stress scenarios will affect capital and liquidity positions.

  3. Stress Testing Execution & Reporting:

    • Support the execution of stress testing exercises, including the gathering of necessary data, model calibration, and scenario analysis.

    • Analyze stress test results, highlighting areas of potential vulnerability or liquidity strain, and provide actionable insights for senior management.

    • Assist in the preparation of stress testing reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies, ensuring the clarity and accuracy of the findings.

  4. Data Analysis & Validation:

    • Perform detailed analysis and validation of data inputs used in stress testing models, ensuring that they are accurate, complete, and relevant.

    • Collaborate with data management teams to ensure that data quality and integrity are maintained throughout the stress testing process.

    • Ensure that any issues related to data gaps or inconsistencies are addressed promptly to avoid delays in stress testing processes.

  5. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:

    • Ensure that stress testing activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS, Dodd-Frank, EBA guidelines) and industry best practices.

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of stress testing methodologies, assumptions, and results, and ensure documentation is readily available for regulatory inspections or audits.

    • Track and manage changes to regulatory frameworks and ensure they are incorporated into the stress testing processes as needed.

  6. Process Improvement & Optimization:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of stress testing processes.

    • Assist in the automation of stress testing processes, leveraging technology solutions to streamline reporting and reduce manual intervention.

    • Continuously monitor the effectiveness of stress testing models and propose refinements based on lessons learned and changing risk profiles.

  7. Stakeholder Communication & Support:

    • Provide clear and concise communication to senior management and relevant stakeholders regarding stress testing results, risks, and mitigation strategies.

    • Support the risk management team in presenting stress testing results to regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders as required.

    • Engage with senior business leaders to discuss the implications of stress testing outcomes and help inform risk-based decision-making.

  8. Training & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Provide training and guidance to junior team members and stakeholders regarding stress testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.

    • Stay up-to-date with developments in stress testing regulations, industry practices, and financial risk management trends.

Skills & Experience Required:

  1. Educational Qualifications:

    • A degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Mathematics, or a related field. A professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA) or relevant risk management qualification is desirable.

  2. Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, business analysis, or a related role in the financial services industry, with a focus on stress testing or capital management.

    • Experience with regulatory stress testing frameworks (e.g., CCAR, DFAST, EBA stress tests, or similar).

    • Proven experience in gathering business requirements and analyzing stress test results.

  3. Technical Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R).

    • Experience with stress testing software, risk management platforms, or regulatory reporting tools is a plus.

    • Familiarity with financial modeling, capital planning, and liquidity risk metrics.

  4. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and models.

    • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify discrepancies or issues in stress testing assumptions and results.

    • Ability to understand the impact of stress test results on business operations and strategic decisions.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
